Fewer Tractors on the Road

Now when you travel on the roads you do not see very many farmers. More farmers are done for the season. That means that Percy Elevators business has slowed down a little till the spring when fertilizer picks up. Now farmers are cleaning up equipment, at least my parents are. I guess I should not say parents because it is only my mom that is working on it. She spent three day washing the combine. The first day I was babysitting then the next day I went to Indiana then the third day I was babysitting again. I usually help her clean up the equipment but she is doing it when I am not home so that makes it hard to help her. She had told me that she really missed my help cleaning up the combine this year. I told her I would have been more then happy to help if she would have waited till I was home. She did not have time to wait because the numbers of nice days are getting harder to come by since we are going into winter. It is crazy that the farming is done already for this year. My parent usually are not done till the end of November and it was the end of October this year and we even had a wedding in my family this year which added to the mess. We are happy to be done and I am sure the other farmers are too.

I guess that you and your family will be happy to have life slowing down a little bit. I know that I for sure am very glad that there will not be any more tractors on the road, especially when I am in a hurry. What do the farmers do after they clean all of the equipment? Does the mill stay open during the winter for any reason? When does it open up again if it closes during the winter? What will be the next thing to be harvested?
I obviously don't know much about farming beyond what I have seen on the side of the road and what I have read in you blogs. I hope that your paper will bring a bit of enlightenment.

It's always good when things start to slow down a bit. I know i've been crazy busy since the summer started, but things are finally starting to slow down. I'm deffentley glad that there won't be as many trators on the road anymore, I alwyays hate being stuck behind them when i'm in a hurry! Why did it end so early this year? is it diffrent every year? I don't know much about farming
